SHC WA - Membership 2009/2010

In late May 2009 written advice was received from the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc. that they had secured, through AON, 24/7 Personal Accident Insurance cover (in addition to the Public Liability cover) for all Active / Riding members of the Show Horse Council of Australia and its Affiliates. What this means: SHC Active / Riding members now have the added security of knowing that they have 24/7 insurance cover that equals that on offer by other organisations at a fraction of the cost. Is there a choice: unfortunately members do not have a choice, the 24/7 Personal Accident cover is not optional, the agreement between SHC Australasia and AON means this cover is imposed on ALL SHC Active / Riding members. What will this cost: it will mean an increase in membership fees for Active / Riding members (to cover the additional insurance that we pay on your behalf) but we will be looking at different fees for Juniors (under 17 years) and Adults and there will be no increase to the membership fees for Non Active / Non Riding members. The new fee structure: the WA committee is looking at options and concessions for families to keep the new fees at a reasonable level. Duplication of Personal Accident cover: we understand that many SHC members are also Equestrian Australia (EA) members and already have the 24/7 Personal Accident cover in their EA membership. This issue has been raised with SHC Australasia. The issue of duplicate 24/7 Personal Accident cover has been raised with SHC Australasia (by several of the State Affiliates) and we hope to have clearer advice on this following the next meeting of the SHC Australasia which is to be held on 7 July. When will we know the membership details for 2009/2010: we anticipate this matter will be resolved by mid July and the new membership forms and fee structure will be placed on our website as soon as possible. To provide all members with a reasonable period to pay their membership fees we will extend the due date for payment from 31 July to mid August (due date will be included on the forms). Please Note: this decision is totally outside of our control, it affects all members and Affiliates Australia wide. We understand that many are currently facing difficult financial times but we urge you to focus on the positives that the SHC WA membership will now offer - some peace of mind.SHC WA Committee

Show Horse Council Horse of the Year 200825th & 26th October 2008The HOY program is now available on the website under Forms and includes the event list, entry forms, performance record sheets and the rules. By popular request Turnout and Led classes have been returned to the program. Before you send your entry in please make sure you have read the rules and go through the Entry Check List to ensure all requirements have been met. Entries that are not complete or have incorrect information may be returned and a handling fee charged.PresentationsPlease note that changing of rider during any presentations will not be permitted (rule 50 refers). Presentations for the Open classes will be held at the end of the day and all finalists, with a rider on board, will be marshaled together but the presentations will be staggered with one section being presented at a time. Those sections not being presented will be held in a marshalling area, this will enable riders who have more than one horse/pony to change mounts between sections outside of the actual presentation area. Any riders who have more than one mount in a section will require a substitute rider for the presentations (as riders will not be able to change mounts during the presentation).Rider ClassesPlease note rule 45 – ONE RIDER ONE HORSE, that is two riders cannot ride the same horse.

Membership for 2008/2009

Please note that membership renewals for the 2008/2009 year are due by 31 July 2008. Any renewals received after 31 July 2008 will incur a late payment fee. Non Rider/Non Competitor Member - the Show Horse Council of Australasia has advised all affiliates that for insurance purposes this type of membership is for those who do not ride a horse at any time and do not compete as a rider or handler in competition or events. Anyone who rides a horse (at any time and in any situation, not just in competition) must join as a Rider/Competitor Member. A definition (as provided by SHC Australasia) of what a Non Rider/Non Competitor Member means has been included on the Membership Application form. This will mean that a number of members who are currently Non Rider Members should actually be Rider/Competitor Members. In view of this the SHC WA has revised their fee structure for 2008/2009 to reduce the cost to members and families. Please read the Membership Application form carefully and ensure that your membership application is a true account of your situation. When completing your Membership Application please remember:one form per person;a waiver form is required for each member;where the member is under 18 years of age the application and waiver forms must be signed by the parent/guardian; andto complete all information and sign both forms (or your application will be returned). The 2008/2009 Membership Application and Waiver forms are now available from our 'forms' page.
