Dear Competitors,

Please find attached the relevant information to order Grand National Competitor packs and any extra items you may like, All order must be received by December 3rd 2017 there will not be a second order and we cannot take any late orders.

Non Competitors are welcome to order items.

Annual General Meeting & Grand National Competitor Function

The Show Horse Council of WA's Annual General Meeting (AGM) is to be held on Saturday 4th February 2017 at:

Oakford Community Hall

Foxton Drive

Oakford

Time: 7:00pm

There are five (5) positions up for nomination.

All nominations are to be received by the Show Horse Council WA at least seven days prior to the AGM. Final date for acceptance of nominations is Friday 27th January 2016. A copy of the nomination form is attached.

Grand National Competitor Function

The AGM will be followed by a social function for all members and Grand National competitors. Those who ordered Grand National merchandise by 1st December 2016 can collect their packs on the evening.

Finger food and some complimentary drinks will be offered.

SHC WA TRANSPORT GRANT

All competitors who qualified for the 2016 Grand Nationals at the 2015 Western Stars Junior Showcase, SHC Classic or HOTY were sent information regarding the SHC Transport Grant. An independent committee met on Monday 14 December 2015 and selected the winner and runner-ups. Congratulations to the successful applicants. The winner is Rachel and Kandance Langley and Judaroo Pedlar Runner-ups are Shannara Beresi and Karma Park National Girl and Eileen Morris and Gem Park Debonare. Good luck to all competitors attending the Championships.

NEW GRAND NATIONAL QUALIFYING EVENT FOR 2016

We are extremely excited to inform our members that the Western Stars Junior Show has been expanded to become a full blown GN Qualifier with all qualifying classes to be included in the programme. We are planning to run this event over the Anzac Day weekend again and we have been lucky enough to join forces with the Riverside Riding Club to run this show at
their grounds on Saturday and Sunday, 23 and 24 April 2016. We hope that competitors throw their support behind this event so that it can become a permanent Grand National qualifying fixture on the Western Australian Show Horse Calendar for many years to come.

NOMINATION FOR ELECTION OF OFFICER BEARERS TO THE COMMITTEE 

Four (4) committee member positions are vacant for election. Up to four Club representatives may be elected to represent affiliate clubs and two General Committee members elected from general membership. No person under 18 years of age is eligible to serve on the Management Committee and no person currently serving on any other state show horse committee or sub-committee is eligible to serve on the Management Committee of the Show Horse Council of WA Inc. All nominations are to be received by the Show Horse Council of WA Inc. at least
seven days prior to the Annual General Meeting. Final date for acceptance of nominations is Friday 29 January 2016. Ballot to be secret and take place at the Annual General Meeting on Saturday 6 February 2016. Please note that nomination forms for committee positions are at the end of this newsletter.

SHC AUSTRALASIA COMPETITION RULES GEAR CHANGES

Did you know you can now use roller ball spurs? SHC Australasia Competition Rules have been amended. 16.00 Saddlery and Gear Protocols 16.1 Martingales, any kinds of gadgets (tongue ties, bearing, side, running, balance reins etc), any kind of boots or bandages, any form of blinkers are forbidden. Bits other than types of :- Simple Snaffle, Wilkie or Baucher, Pelham, Weymouth Bit and Bradoon are not permitted. 1 a) Simple snaffle (egg butt or rings only) must be used in Leading Rein and First Ridden Classes. 16.2 Whips must have a leather keeper at least 5cm long and 2cm wide and must not exceed 72cm in length, excluding the leather keeper (flap). 16.3 Dummy or Roller Ball Spurs not exceeding 2cm in length are permitted. Any other type of spur is not permitted. PLEASE NOTE: for First Ridden classes no spurs are permitted and the rider's cane/whip must not exceed 40 cms.
