The calendar below utilises Google Calendar to show all upcoming events for 2010 (including Measuring Dates). To use the calendar, simply browse to the date you are interested in, find the list of events for that particular date, and click on the event for further information. You can browse through future months by clicking the direction arrows next to the Month in the top left of the Calendar.
The above Calendar of Events has been compiled using Google Calendar. Google Calendar operates in much the same way as your Microsoft based Outlook Calendar on your PC, but is more of a web based product that has great flexibility, with the ability to integrate into websites as you can see above.
Another great feature of Google Calendar is the ability to create an RSS feed to generate our 'Upcoming Events' feed which is displayed on the right side panel of our site.
Using the calendar shown above, you can browse through any month to see what events have been scheduled. Clicking on a particular event will bring up further details such as Event Name, Event Date, Event Location and even a link to download Entry Forms (where applicable). You can even click for further information which will take you to the events detailed entry on Google Calendar. From here, you are also able to view a Location Map (if one exists), get directions to the venue and even add the event to your own Google Calendar.
Have you seen this logo on websites and don't know what it's for?.. Then read on!
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines, and podcasts. An RSS document (which is called a "feed" or "web feed") contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text. RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with web sites in an automated manner that can be piped into special programs or filtered displays.
RSS content can be read using software called an "RSS reader", "feed reader", "aggregator" or even your web browser such as Firefox or Internet Explorer. The user subscribes to a feed by entering the feed's link into the reader or by clicking an RSS icon on a website (such as those next to our 'Upcoming Events' and 'Latest News Headlines') that initiates the subscription process. The reader checks the user's subscribed feeds regularly for new content, downloading any updates that it finds.
Give it a go by clicking on our RSS Feeds for Upcoming Events or News Headlines to be kept up to date and know when something interesting has been posted on the website.
