This event is open to all official horse / ponies in their first year of competition.
Sections include:
Show Horse: Small and Large Pony, Galloway and Hack
Show Hunter: Small and Large Pony, Galloway and Hack
QUALIFYING / ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS, RULES and CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
Qualifying Requirements: Horse / pony is required to have attended two official show fixtures run by a SHC WA affiliate club within the qualifying period.
Qualifying period: 9 May 2009 – 29 April 2010
Eligibility Requirements: The onus is on the owner / exhibitor / representative to make sure that their horse / pony is eligible to compete in this event.
Rules of Competition: In addition to the rules outlined below all competitors should take note of the SHC of Australasia Inc. Competition Rules and General Rules, which will apply, unless precluded by rules or conditions of entry specific to this show, the 2010 rules are listed below.

2011 Grand National Qualifier
Saturday – Show Ponies, Show Hacks & Lead Rein
Sunday – Show Hunter Ponies, Show Hunter Hacks & Riders Classes
Champions and reserves in all open Show Horse and Show Hunter sections along with the winners and runner ups from all Rider classes and the Leading Rein Pony class qualify for the 2011 Grand National Championships.

This Show shall be run in accordance with the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc. Competition Rules and General Rules and in addition the rules outlined in the Show Schedule specific to this show, the Show Horse Council Classic 2010. A copy of the Competition Rules can be obtained from the Show Horse Council of WA website - www.showhorsecouncilwa.com.au, or by contacting the secretary of the Show Horse Council of WA Inc.
The SHC WA Inc. reserves the right to interpret all rules where any dispute arises.

2011 Grand National Qualifier
SHC WA’s most prestigious competition, all Horse of the Year winners and runner-ups from Open Show Horse, Show Hunter, Rider and Leading Rein Pony Classes qualify for the 2011 Grand National Championships.
This Show shall be run in accordance with the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc. Competition Rules, General Rules and the Rules pertaining to the Show Horse Council of WA Inc. Horse of the Year Show. A copy of the Competition Rules can be obtained from the Show Horse Council of WA website (Rules and Guidelines page).

A Performance / Qualifying Requirement is required for Entry in the OPEN Show Horse Classes, the OPEN Show Hunter Classes and the Leading Rein Pony Class.
Open Show Hack / Galloway / Pony Classes —15 points to be gained at three or more shows under two different judges in Show Horse classes in either height, weight, ladies, gents, boys or girls. Points gained in novice and intermediate classes do not count.
Open Show Hunter Hack / Galloway / Pony Classes — 10 points to have been gained at three or more shows under two different judges in Show Hunter classes. Points gained in novice and intermediate classes do not count.
Leading Rein Pony Class — 5 points to have been gained from Leading Rein Pony classes only (points gained in Leading Rein Smartest on Parade and Leading Rein Rider classes do not count). No points are required to enter the other Leading Rein Classes. Pony to be 12hh and under; Rider to be 3 years and under 8 years as at the date of competition; and Handler to be 18 years or over as at the date of competition.
All qualifying points must have been gained in Western Australia.
Any number of riders who are Show Horse Council of WA Inc. financial members may qualify the horse / pony but only one rider must be nominated to compete in the preliminary and final.
Points must be gained from Show Horse Council of WA Inc. Affiliate Club Shows.
Champion & Reserve Champion points DO NOT count for qualifying requirements in any section. Points shall be allocated 1st – 3 points, 2nd – 2 points, 3rd – 1 point. Novice, intermediate or maiden classes cannot be counted as points. Points can only be counted from height, weight, ladies (and girls) and gents (and boys) classes.
Rider, Turnout, Led and Smartest on Parade Classes DO NOT require a Performance to be submitted.
Please Note:
No exhibit can be shown in both the Show Hack and Show Hunter Classes.
Entries will only be accepted from bonafide residents of Western Australia.
If ANY Horse / Pony has competed in any Show Horse Council Horse of the Year Competition in any State or Territory outside of WA within the current calendar year then that horse is ineligible to compete in the Show Horse Council of WA Inc. Horse of The Year Show.
If ANY Rider has competed in any Show Horse Council Horse of the Year Competition in any State or Territory outside of WA within the current calendar year then he / she is ineligible to compete in the Rider Section of the Show Horse Council of WA Inc. Horse of The Year Show.
All horses entered (including Leading Rein and Rider class mounts) shall be currently registered with the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc. National Saddle Horse Register and shall be resident of Western Australia for a period of not less than six (6) calendar months immediately prior to the commencement date of the Show.
All Owners, Lessees, Exhibitors, Riders, Handlers and Responsible Officers shall have resided in Western Australia for a period of not less than six (6) calendar months immediately prior to the commencement date of the Show.
All Owners, Lessees, Exhibitors, Riders, Handlers and Responsible Officers must a financial member of the Show Horse Council of WA Inc. as at the closing date of Entries.
Where a horse is registered and / or entered in the name of a minor (under 18 years), the Entry Form shall be signed by the parent / legal guardian – that parent / legal guardian MUST be a financial member of the Show Horse Council of WA. Inc.
All horses being entered in Hack, Show Hunter, Lead Rein, Led & Rider Competitions are required to be registered with The National Saddle Horse Register no less than two (2) calendar months prior to the closing date of the Show. This is an important change, please don't leave it to the last moment to NSH register your horses. We will not be able to accept any entry marked 'Registration Pending'.
