SHC WA - Membership 2009/2010

SHCWA Insurance

In late May 2009 written advice was received from the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc. that they had secured, through AON, 24/7 Personal Accident Insurance cover (in addition to the Public Liability cover) for all Active / Riding members of the Show Horse Council of Australia and its Affiliates.

What this means: SHC Active / Riding members now have the added security of knowing that they have 24/7 insurance cover that equals that on offer by other organisations at a fraction of the cost.

Is there a choice: unfortunately members do not have a choice, the 24/7 Personal Accident cover is not optional, the agreement between SHC Australasia and AON means this cover is imposed on ALL SHC Active / Riding members.

What will this cost: it will mean an increase in membership fees for Active / Riding members (to cover the additional insurance that we pay on your behalf) but we will be looking at different fees for Juniors (under 17 years) and Adults and there will be no increase to the membership fees for Non Active / Non Riding members.

The new fee structure: the WA committee is looking at options and concessions for families to keep the new fees at a reasonable level.

Duplication of Personal Accident cover: we understand that many SHC members are also Equestrian Australia (EA) members and already have the 24/7 Personal Accident cover in their EA membership. This issue has been raised with SHC Australasia.

The issue of duplicate 24/7 Personal Accident cover has been raised with SHC Australasia (by several of the State Affiliates) and we hope to have clearer advice on this following the next meeting of the SHC Australasia which is to be held on 7 July.

When will we know the membership details for 2009/2010: we anticipate this matter will be resolved by mid July and the new membership forms and fee structure will be placed on our website as soon as possible. To provide all members with a reasonable period to pay their membership fees we will extend the due date for payment from 31 July to mid August (due date will be included on the forms).

Please Note: this decision is totally outside of our control, it affects all members and Affiliates Australia wide. We understand that many are currently facing difficult financial times but we urge you to focus on the positives that the SHC WA membership will now offer - some peace of mind.

Show Horse Council of Australasia

Please be advised that SHC Australasia is currently experiencing delays with the processing of new horse registrations.

We are aware of this and if you are entering a horse for the West Coast Saddlery Debutantes and have not received your horses registration papers, please send your entry in with a note stating the date your NSH registration application was sent in and if possible a copy of the registration application.

Please remember that the rider and the owner's name/s (which appears on the registration papers) much be current financial SHC WA Inc. members.

Please Note: All future Grand National Qualifying Shows, all horses being entered in Hack, Show Hunter, Lead Rein, Led & Rider Competitions at SHC Affiliate Grand National Qualifying Shows, are required to be registered with The National Saddle Horse Register no less than two (2) calendar months prior to the closing date of the Show. This is an important change, please don't leave it to the last moment to NSH register your horses. We will not be able to accept any 'Pending' nominations in the future.
